Third Grade
A Year Of Independence & Inquiry!
A transitional year at Jack Anderson Elementary, third grade provides students with the gradual increase of responsibility for their own learning. Students develop organizational skills and are nurtured to become independent learners and thinkers. A strong focus on reading comprehension and writing mechanics provides opportunities for students to build upon their literacy foundation as we shift from “learning to read” to “reading to learn.” Application of knowledge becomes daily practice within the provided educational opportunities. Math concepts and strategies are strengthened, and students become true problem solvers. Third graders will begin to understand their place in the global community through the study of the geography and the culture of the seven continents.
