How do I pay for my child's meals?

A check or cash in an ENVELOPE with the child's name, teacher and money amount for your child's needs to be submitted to the Cafeteria by 9:30AM PER DAY PER YOUR CHILD'S TEACHER to be put into the child's account. You may pay daily, weekly, or up to 1 (one) month for your child at a time.

How can I determine how the money is used by my child?

We have 3 (three) accounts per child in our school. They are Breakfast, Lunch, and Special Sales. The money is put into the account(s) per the parent request. EXAMPLE: $20.00 is sent into school with a note on the envelope to put $10.00 in lunch, $7.50 in breakfast, and $2.50 in special sales for this child. It will be entered into the computer under this child's name with these amounts in these 3 (three) separate accounts. A CHILD MAY NOT MOVE THIS MONEY AROUND FROM ONE ACCOUNT TO ANOTHER WITHOUT WRITTEN PERMISSION FROM THE PARENT.

If my child forgets his money, will he still get lunch?

We have a county wide policy that a child may have 2 (TWO) meals charged. At this time, a note will be sent home with the child reminding the parent that funds are low or depleted. After the 2 (TWO) meals are charged, we cannot feed the child, and they must go to the office to borrow money or an alternative lunch must be arranged per the office. PLEASE DO NOT FORGET THE MEALS THAT ARE CHARGED NEED TO BE PAID IN THE CAFETERIA AND OFFICE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. This is a county wide policy and must be upheld by ALL schools in the Sumner county school system.

ABSOLUTELY YES!!! We welcome volunteers, and we are extremely thankful for all the WONDERFUL help that is given, especially at holiday time and special days! :o)

What is a Special Sales account?

This is an account where YOU decide how much money your child may spend for extra items for sale in the cafeteria. A sample of items range from extra milk, juice, extra pizza to ice cream, cookies, gummies, chips and non-carbonated drinks. The prices range from $.45 to $1.90 per item.

If I have a returned check, what do I need to do?

The company, CHECKCARE, will be taking over the returned check policy for the Sumner County School Nutrition Department for the remainder of this year.  The policy for this company is that for all checks written to JAE Cafe', we will need two(2) phone numbers, a physical address NO P.O. Boxes and a valid drivers license number written on the check.  I know this is alot of info, but this is what the company requires.   (FYI...)   If a check is sent to them, a fee from CheckCare and your personal bank will be added to the amount of the check written to the cafe'.

Will the menu change without notice?

We strive VERY hard to have the exact items for breakfast and lunch every day that are on the menu...OCCASIONALLY, a substitution MAY occur due to uncontrolled circumstances. Please understand, and know your child will STILL receive delicious and nutritious food for that substitution, and we will be back on "menu" as soon as possible.
